You know, if you google "Pasi Gong" every site will have this sentence and not much more: A Pasi gong is most associated with entertainment, even pageantry. It is used to announce the start of any number of Chinese cultural events such as plays and circuses.
Kind of lame, right? It doesn't make you excited to buy an amazing handcrafted Wuhan Pasi Gong. If anything, that description makes you want to beat your head with a mallet until it bleeds.
Luckily, we found this speech by Chairman Mao from 1942 where he speaks about art, culture, and remarkably enough, Pasi Gongs!
"Our purpose is to ensure that literature and art and Pasi Gongs fit well into the whole revolutionary machine, and that revolutionary machine should sound as neat-o as a Wuhan Pasi Gong and that they all operate as powerful weapons for uniting and educating the people this one fact-- that all should buy a Pasi Gong, even if they can't afford rice to eat and that as weapons they help the people fight the enemy with one heart and one mind and one Pasi Gong in any of three diameters, 10", 12", or 15"!
