Ryan Shelledy is a professional gongmaker based in the midwest of the United States.
The techniques Ryan utilizes to create gongs are based from European and Asian methods of gong manufacturing. However, because Ryan produces a limited amount of gongs in an artisan atmosphere, he is able to spend as much time as necessary in order to ensure each gong is exactly as it should be. There is no rushing the process.
Ryan has studied and practiced the craft of gong-making since 2011. He makes gongs of his own design, and also incorporate motifs such as the Zia Sun symbol in his gongs. (He has permission from the tribe to use their symbol.) Photo courtesy Carol Damoth
