Yes, it is true. As of 2014, Paiste stopped making Rotosounds and Sound Plates. We cannot tell you the exact business reasoning for this change. All we know is what we have left is what we have left.
NOT ONLY THAT, BUT WHEN WE PURCHASED THE FINAL ROTOSOUNDS WE COULD GET, WE WERE UNABLE TO GET THE METAL APPARATUS THAT MAKES THEM SPIN. PAISTE WAS DONE WITH THEM. So we had more Rotosounds than spinning devices.
But we were undeterred in our aim to please our customers. What did we do? We worked with a keen metal shop to reverse engineer them. Sure, it cost a bit more to get the high end ball bearings, but we did it. And they work! Cause Gongs Unlimited is cool like dat.
