Formosa is the Portuguese word for Beautiful and Illa Formosa (Beautiful Island) was what Taiwan was once called. As this is a Taiwanese style gong, we call it our Formosa Gong.
The Taiwanese Gong is different from the Wuhan style brass gongs. It is made from a thinner metal. And has a more delicate sound. The gongs are decorated with Chinese ideograms. The Chinese calligraphy on this Gong means: "The Good Shall Come. The Bad Shall go."

We have the Formosa gong in 3 sizes: 20 inch, 24 inch, and 30 inch. The 20 and 24 inchers are available in the other Chinese Medium Gong Secgtion. You can also purchase this gong without a stand. But you need to call us or email us to do that. The Gongs come with a mallet made especially for them.
