Formosa is the Portuguese word for Beautiful and Illa Formosa (Beautiful Island) was what Taiwan was once called. As this is a Taiwanese style gong, we call it our Formosa Gong. The Taiwanese Gong is different from the Wuhan style brass gongs. It is made from a thinner metal. And has a more delicate sound. The gongs are decorated with Chinese ideograms. The Chinese calligraphy on this Gong means: "The Good Shall Come. The Bad Shall go." You can see the prices for the different sizes when you click on the box at the bottom of the page.
