Ed Mann is well known for his experimental percussion and work with Frank Zappa. He began his musical studies focused on jazz but then grew interested in meshing experimental contemporary music with the sounds of India and Africa. Along the way, this peripatetic musician also learned vibes and marimba. Following his career with Zappa, he became infatuated with gongs and the creation of soundscapes. With Mann's wide knowledge of music and gongs, he got a job at Paiste as a recording and product specialist, and also became known as someone who could connect with the healing and yoga community. He currently releases his own music and performs internationally.
