The Black Ching Gong is a bowl gong. Yes, the Chinese use them for meditation.
Similar to some bowl gongs out there that are sold as Japanese Gongs by quasi-Asian decor sites with names like Samadhi-ladi-dingdong dot com, or shaktimakti-overpricedimports-of all sorts dot com... but those they claim are Japanese gongs are not usually Japanese gongs.
20 cm inside diameter of bowl includes wood and rubber mallet includes resting pillow

The Black Ching Gong is similar to singing bowls that are sold as Tibetan singing bowls, but those are not really Tibetan, and are not even made in Tibet, but rather in India, by enterprising manufacturers who speak pretty good english.
The Black Ching Gong is played by striking the top edge, or rim, with the wood and rubber mallet that is provided with it. You also get great tones that sustain for long periods of time with striking the side.

We have tried several mallets on it, but the one provided with the gong seems to work the best for us right now.
You can get remarkable tones that are both clarion and subtle. They stay in a specific range but last and hold for a good length of time.
Note for sound healers and explorers of such: Initially we have found the Black Ching Gong in this size - 20 cm inside diameter - works very well to balance the lobes of the brain. it also tunes the crown chakra, sixth chakra to receive communication from the higher self and communication from spirit guides. on certain individuals it opens up blocks in fifth chakra and so that communication that has been building to come into the heart chakra and heal the person can get into their body. This is a valuable addition at a very cheap cost to your sound healing instruments
