Yes, this includes the gong, gong stand, and gong mallet.
Our Thai Gongs are high quality bronze gongs made in Thailand, up in the hills near Chiang Mai. Sometimes we will purchase high quality gongs in the city of Bangkok too.
These gongs are handcrafted in small businesses, but do not let that fool you. The gong making skills of these men are very high. These Thai gong makers have created tuned gong sets for musicians all over the world. When they bang a gong, the rest of us can really get it on.
THE PR SONGKRAN GONG STAND IS CONSTRUCTED OUT OF GORGEOUS ALDER WOOD. It is strong, solid and has a nice grain that holds the stain.
Why is it called the PR SONGKRAN Gong Stand?
Well... the Songkran part of the name is from the New Year's Celebration in Thailand known as Songkran!
Songkran is like a national Wet T-Shirt Contest that celebrates the beginning of the Thai calendar, which coincides with the Spring! (The hottest part of the year in Thailand.)
To shorten a long-winded Wikipedia entry:
The most apparent event nowadays of Songkran is "throwing water." Thais of all stripes, shapes, and colors roam the streets with jugs of water, water guns or garden hoses and drench each other and passersby. However, before this H2O bacchanalia became the norm, Songkran was traditionally a time to visit and pay respects to elders.
In addition, many Thais go to a wat (Buddhist monastery) during Songkran to pray and give food to monks. They might also cleanse Buddhas in household shrines by gently pouring water over them. Thais believe that doing this will bring good luck for the New Year.

But what does the "PR" mean in the name PR SONGKRAN?
PR are the initials of the stage name of our Method Carpenter, the one who built these stands. What is a Method Carpenter? you might ask. Well, a Method Carpenter works similarly to a Method Actor. He needs to really understand what the wood is going through in order to create a gong stand from the inside out. To this end PR, becomes wood, not just in the morning, but the afternoon and evening. PR literally has his limbs replaced by tree limbs, which he then cuts, mills, and shapes into wooden limbs, from which he hangs gongs on and strikes.
Only then is PR ready to create gong stands. Once you use his gong stands, you realize other people merely make wooden holders for metal discs.
