The Mother Tesla Gong is in the Chau Gong (bullseye design with a rim) family. In fact, it is basically a CHAU GONG BUT BEFORE IT IS LATHED. That means it is how a gong looks like and sounds like before they would lathe off this dark iron oxide gong covering. We like to think of it - metaphorically - like brown rice or sprouted wheat, or cane sugar. It is less processed. Makes sense on a metaphorical level, you say, but come on Malletheads, how does this effect the sound? That's what I want to know. Well, fine customer, what we have discovered is that it keeps the tone - the fundamental note deeper to begin with, and the gong less prone to a crash or splash that even the larger gongs will do sometimes. When you have need for a deep mellow gong for meditation events, this is great sonic vehicle for inner journeys.Also, this gong engraves marvelously.
