But not as shamanistic.

THE PR SONGKRAN GONG STAND IS CONSTRUCTED OUT OF GORGEOUS ALDER WOOD. It is strong, solid and has a nice grain that holds the stain.

Why is it called the PR SONGKRAN Gong Stand?

Songkran is the New Year Festival in Thailand.
Thai people clean everything, from the house to their bad actions in the last year.
Nowadays, Songkran is better known for its water pistols and Thai girls' wet t-shirts.
Traditionally, the ceremony was to pour water into and over your palms in order that your bad actions, bad thoughts, bad karma would flow away with the water.
Scented water was poured slowly down the back of the person while people would offer words of blessing for the coming year.

What about the PR part in the name of this stand?
PR are the initials of Yankee great Phil Rizzuto.
When Gongs Unlimited looked for a carpenter to create these great gong stands
we looked for someone who was skillful with wood, and Phil Rizzuto, surprisingly, because he is deceased, became our top choice!
But perhaps not so surprisingly, because The Malletheads at Gongs U are very spiritual and like chatting with dead.
AND Phil Rizzuto was a great hitter and skillful bunter.
And he did it all with wood bats.

Phil Rizzuto, besides being an amazing discorporate carpenter, was a famous athlete who used his celebrity for good.
Here is JUST one example of PR's Mother Teresa- style off the field.
At a charity event in 1951, Rizzuto met a young blind boy named Ed Lucas, who had lost his sight when he was struck by a baseball.
Rizzuto took an interest in the boy, and his school, St. Joseph's School for the Blind.
Until his death, Rizzuto raised millions for St. Joseph's by donating profits from his commercials and books, and also by hosting the Phil Rizzuto Celebrity Golf Classic.
Rizzuto and Lucas remained friendly, and it was through the Yankee broadcaster's influence that Lucas' 2006 wedding was the only one ever conducted at Yankee Stadium.
Lucas was one of Rizzuto's last visitors at his nursing home, days before his death.
